The last four years
Over the past years, I have learned a lot about our unique district and its diverse set of challenges as well as how the city works and where improvements can and need to be made. I quickly realized how very slow things can move at the municipal level. Regardless, there have been some improvements in the area over my last mandate.

Some improvements in the area over my last mandate include:

-
Repaving of Dorchester Blvd (westbound lane between Clarke & Greene Avenue).
-
Repaving of Clandeboye and Weredale lane.
-
Securing the re-establishment of Selby Park.
-
Ensuring waste collection in our lanes is maintained.
-
Installation of speed bump on Olivier Avenue.
-
Traffic calming measures on the eastbound lane of Dorchester.
-
Extension of pedestrian crossing time at the intersection of Greene & Dorchester to 25 seconds.
-
Temporary upgrade of the WAG playground.
-
Removal of outdated parking signage.
-
Dismantling of tunnel structure on Weredale.
-
Planting of 6 new trees on the Dorchester median.
-
Redevelopment of Saint Antoine Street (City of Montreal Project).
-
Secured a commitment from the MTQ to remove graffiti from their structures on our territory twice per year (spring and fall).
-
Advocated for mandatory backup silencers on snow clearing equipment to reduce noise disruptions.
-
Sidewalk repair in front of Alexis Nihon on the north side of St. Catherine street between Wood Ave and Atwater (Currently under construction).
Some of my activities have included:
-
Organized an information session in collaboration with members of the SPVM-Station 12, Westmount Public Safety and CIUSSS (Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux) on homelessness and safety for residents in the area. This meeting provided and opportunity to address residents concerns and gain insights into the different services and organizations in tackling homelessness, ensuring security and promoting safety in our community. -
With the growing complex issues of homelessness, through collaboration with Resilience Montreal, our MNA, Montreal and various local service groups we are continuously looking for ways to help this most vulnerable population on the eastern border of our district. I have also been volunteering at Resilience Montreal Day Shelter for over a year.

-
With my District 8 Facebook page (facebook.com/KathleenKezDistrict8) I have been continually providing useful information and updates on happenings in our area.

I have made it a priority to make myself promptly accessible to respond to any issue, concerns or questions residents may have.

Our community is fortunate to have both Centre Greene and the Atwater Library on our territory. These two important institutions provide invaluable services to our community at large, and I have been a strong supporter of both.

Advocated for a public presentation by the MTQ of the preliminary report for a noise barrier on Prospect Street . While there was a misunderstanding regarding the proposed location of the sound wall, which was understandably disappointing for residents - initially understood to be on the Falaise between the highway and CP train tracks, the community clearly expressed their opposition to placing it between the Prospect green space and CP rail tracks. Lesson learnt! Link to preliminary report for a noise barrier on Prospect Street.
